Job Description
Responsibilities
Develop efficient and high quality code while meeting product release deadlines and implements solutions as directed within standards
Maintain systems by monitoring and correcting software defects
Write and maintain good technical design documentation and technical approach
Assist leads to prepare time estimates for projects and software design plans
Perform peer code reviews: verify extensibility, reusability and maintainability
Develop and execute detailed test plans (unit testing and functional testing)
Executes on provided design
Provides status updates for own scope of work within projects.
Participates in internal team and status meetings.
Production Support & Maintenance activities:
Respond quickly to support issues and follow up till resolution
Conduct thorough troubleshooting and provide quick resolution to production problems
Follow up and provide timely reporting on issues to management
Provide guidance and technical assistance to junior staff members
Makes suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements.
Contributes to the creation of design.  May lead the design of less complex components
Assists in identification and implementation of short-term and long-term solution options, including risk assessments.
Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Overall IT industry experience of 5+ yrs
Solid development experience in a commercial IT environment
Passionate about code and software architecture
Strong web-focussed development skills
Effective communicator at all levels, excellent inter-personal skills, strong business focus
Highly self-motivated, confident to work on projects alone as well as in a team
An enthusiastic approach to extending knowledge and learning new skills
Strong commitment to quality of work and a good attention to detail

Expert in the following:
Development experience in Java (J2EE), Applets, JSP, JavaScript, JDBC, SQL, Oracle, XML/XSLT, Linux OS (SLES 9) and Shell Scripts
Application of Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) techniques and implementation using Design Patterns.
Knowledge to create unit level tests using JUnit and experience with Shell scripting.
Experience in extensive use of source control tools such as SVN.

Optional experience in:
Agile/Scrum Software development methodologies (2 years+)
Client side tools & frameworks: AJAX, JQuery, JSON, GWT
Proficient in XML and related technologies
Eclipse IDE
