Designation: Senior Software Development Engineer
Job Description: McAfee looking for a software engineer for the Messaging Security department that can handle technical challenges on a daily basis within the realms of PHP, Perl, JavaScript and C/C++. The software engineer will be part of a global team working on Messaging Security workflow portal tools and anti-spam engines.
Basic Function and Scope of the Position:
-Participates in requirements analysis and design for new and sustaining projects.
-Plans, organizes, and performs the technical work of an assignment. Coordinates design activity with other programmers on technical aspects relating to the project.
-Follows design practices and standards and utilizes Agile Scrum development methodology.
Specific Responsibilities/Functions:
-Create, update and deploy new scripts whenever required.
-Develop, unit test, debug, implement and integrate code of varying complexity and utilizing the appropriate coding language.
-Works with QA (or peers) to develop and execute tests to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of developed or enhanced software.
Desired Profile:
Qualifications:
-Linux user (1-2 years)
-Shell scripting (1-2 years)
-PHP (2-3 years)
-Perl (1-3 years)
-C or Java (1-2 years)
-SQL (MySQL or PostgreSQL) (2-3 years)
-Thorough understanding of IP, SMTP, DNS, NFS (Networking)
-Strong English communications skills
-Should have good customer and results focus.
-Should be value driven and very good team player.
-Willingness to perform out-of-hours system support if required
Desirable:
-Some knowledge of TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP and SSL protocols and email systems
-Agile software development process management and continuous improvement
-Candidates from product companies preferred.
-Knowledge of Windows as well as LINUX platform.
-Process oriented exposure to Software Quality.
-Knowledge of Ruby, Python, UML are a plus.
